“Playful Fika” emerged as part of the ‘Festival Committee’ gatherings, uniting local children and adults to reimagine snack services for the public festival. The aim was to inspire visitors to embrace their playful spirits and foster social interactions
The children came up with the idea of a cookie serving robot; they developed the concept by prototyping with loose parts. I used insights from these meetings to detail and build onto their design concept. The outcome was an interactive installation of a cookie machine that the children operated at the Vår Festival 2022.

Children's suggestions for fun food and fun ways to serve the food at the festival.

Prototyping: Hacking the food cart for a cookie machine that stores the cookies, slides the cookies, and hides the operator.
Children built a cardboard robot during a prototyping meeting. Their idea was to slide the gluten-free cookie from one arm and the gluten cookie from the other. They also made ticket collecting boxes at two levels, one at the higher level for tall adults and the other at the lower level for younger children.
We used scrap materials available at the Remida-creative recycling center to build the final version of the cookie machine.

Our co-designed cookie machine served cookies to visitors at the vår festival.
